We should be proud because we started off as a secular government based on judeo Christian ethics. It has served us quite well and has become a model for the world. To this day any one who distrusts our government does so because at heart we believe those values are being violated. Atheists may be good people but they never gave the world a government the kind of hope our system does. The right didn't like Clinton because he was viewed as transgressing those values and I don't like the chicken hawks in power now for the same reason.
