The person hasn't been damaged. There is no linkage to the REAL person. Like X said, dead people who WERE real can't be slandered, then how the hell can someone who was NEVER real be slandered? I'm not getting this. Can you slander Super Mario? Here I'll try - Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig live together in San Francisco performing sex acts with under age partners. There... no slander (speech) or libel (writing) can produce a provable harm against any set of fictional character identities. Now if I said the same of Mel Blanc (if he was still alive) or his son, then there would be a libel. What's not to get?
