You do know that pediatricians have noted a dramatic drop in head injuries since helmets were required for kids under 16? I ride my mountain bike every day, pretty much. Always wear a helmet. Wore a brain bucket when I had a motorcycle even though I didn't have to. There is assumed risk but then if the injury is paid for by the public healthcare system, then I think I have some interest in the outcome. Helmets for kids seems to be on the right side, but helmet laws for adults leave me vacillating.
