The most effective way to "encourage" people is by letting the price of gas rise. Of course, that puts a real damper on the economy. The "little peeple" also get it in the shorts, while the fat cats (both liberals and conservatives) continue to fly their private jets.

<I have to wonder if there is a correlation between the growing obesity in this country and our traffic crisis.>

Personally, I think the digital revolution has done much more to contribute to obesity than our love of cars.
