Agreed that the author completely neglected to mention the issues of capex and uncertain sales to offset same, and the state of capital markets right now.
This is the kind of guy who wants it all and wants it for less than it costs to make, because he's just *sure* that some 'fat cat' is living high off the perceived overcharges he's paying.
I believe it is useful to have outlets such as NR to voice dissenting views from current status quo, but poor jounalism doesn't help no matter the direction it comes from.
OT just moved to southern cal, and had various options of DSL vs cable, and took cable w/ avg 700 kbps to over 1mbps for only $42 per month. So far so good, seems no kids on my node are into gaming or heavy downloads...
OT also put charter (CHTR) on your radar screen, I've been trading the vols but the bands are tightening... I'm guessing it drops again, if market does... I think they are high-probability of success without massive dilution, tho with heavy debt load have come under attack... and unlike LU, at least they can count their subs and revs each Q, and projections are unlikely to drop... economy would have to be pretty bad before folks drop their cable subs, they'd stop eating out and renting videos first, imho... and I do believe we've yet to see the bottom in the recession. |
