Hi Nadine Carroll; Re: "... and Congress would be approving this long-delayed sale right about now if Kuwait were adamantly opposing our policies, for what reason exactly?"
(1) In order to believe something despite evidence to the contrary, it helps to have selective perception. This is a good example. You're trying to correlate two things that have nothing to do with each other.
(2) Since the leadership in congress is up in arms over the fact that the Administration hasn't given out any information showing why an attack on Iraq is needed, I think we can safely eliminate the possibility that Congress is rewarding Kuwait for assistance on an attack that they haven't approved of, LOL!!!
(3) And what is your explanation for all those other Arab nations that already have been sold Apaches? Were they sold because they also secretly agreed to follow US policy (years later)? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Re: "Just pure coincidence?
Oh! Now you've got me thinking hard! Yes, maybe you're right, and everything that has happened in the past 9 months must have something to do with attack on Iraq that keeps slipping into the future!
But wait. The fact is that if the US had sold the Apaches to Kuwait in [put any month you like here], you'd have used that as evidence that Kuwait was supporting an attack on Iraq. I have no doubt that you could look at any weapons sale as evidence that the US was going to get assistance in the war with Iraq.
(4) I don't think it's at all unlikely that Kuwait would sign up for an attack on Iraq. I've said as much repeatedly on this thread. So the question you have to ask is this: Why did it take so long for Kuwait to get the Apaches when you know they were in favor of the attack all along? In other words, are you really admitting that Kuwait didn't support an attack on Iraq until just now?
Re: "Do you smell a little quid pro quo going on? I sure do."
I take it that in addition to installing rose colored lenses, you've now added potpourri to your gas mask.
Re: "It's a fairly elite club of Friends of America that has these particular Apaches, after all."
(1) So, it wasn't obvious until now that Kuwait was a friend of America? Give me a break.
(2) By your logic, I guess that means that Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are also "friends of America", and are therefore signing up to invade Iraq. Maybe we should sell some Apaches to Britain and Germany.
