"...In a move that befuddles many pundits, Thieme has bet heavily on the penny stock of Senetek Plc (NasdaqSC:SNTK - News), a British company that makes an injectable drug to fight impotence. Most mutual funds embrace diversification. Thieme does not. More than 80 percent of his American Heritage fund is now invested in that obscure stock, which actually has risen 8.3 percent this year to trade at 65 cents on Friday.

Thieme likes the prospects of Senetek's drug, despite the dominance of Pfizer's Viagra. He says Senetek has grown to such a large position in the fund not because he has gobbled up huge helpings of the stock but because he has held on to it while selling other shares. Thieme has unloaded other stocks to raise cash to pay off investors who bailed out of the fund...."
