Hi Joan,
We are getting settled in Prague.
Our apartment here is very funny in some ways. It is HUGE, but somewhat bare of furniture. As I feared, it fronts on a very busy street. The three 10-foot, happily double-glazed with separated casements, windows are hung only with lace curtains so all the streetlight and morning light come right in. The building is being renovated, but so far not too noisily. The traffic is continuous 24-hour, but no horns, motorcycles, or boom boom cars, so one gets used to it quickly. We are sleeping at least as wellas with the snorer from the next room at the Avalon Hotel in London, and we have over 800 square feet of space, a new bath and kitchen, for less than the 80 sq ft of the Avalon (which had no bath either) and for $60 a night instead of $80. Within a range of 200 feet of the door are a bank with a cash machine that spits out money on demand and an Italian restaurant where one can dine on an assortment of things and include a bottle of wine and pay less that $10 for two people. And now, an excellent Internet place, just another 100 yards, cheaper than anything in any guide book. I have a 20hour pass for about $18.
And the connection is excellent!!!! |
