| Morning Shape, yes the little car is an early 70's, 72 chasis to be exact..only year to have the external filler flap for the oil tank (holds 12 qt. of oil)..Motor and transmission are from a 76 911s..There are some documented problems with the head studs pulling out of the 76 alloy block..But mine have been corrected using dilavar studs..another problem with any pre '84 911 were the mechanical chain tensioners, mine have been changed to carrera oil feed tensioners..no frills ride (meaning no heater, defrost<vbg>),got a large power increase by removing the heat exchangers and replacing with headers and Manta exhaust. Dumped the fuel injection for the dual triple carbs. Over all, good results, the 2.7 liter is pushing more hp and torque than the 3.2 carrera..power to weight is excellent, car only weighs a bit over 2450#'s..Sorry to bore the thread with car talk..on to another off topic subject<g>..Do many burn corn out there? A place near me sells corn burning stoves, as well as pellet stoves..Seems cleaner and easier..But for me wood is so cheap I can't justify the switch..I would like to go with an outside wood burning boiler though..they are super nice units, take a 3 ft log, and only need to be loaded every couple of days..Well, I'm sitting well over 90% in cash, we'll see if the markets will bounce from what appears to be a coming weak opening...but there has to be a lot more nervous nellies out there like me<LOL>..later, DD |
