This book is a great read. I've now finished 500 of 600 pages, and I can't strongly enough recommend it for everyone here. amazon.com. It begins with the ultra-secret meeting on Jeckyll Island at which the Fed was created, then goes back through history to talk about money, booms, and busts. Wars are discussed and arguments are espoused about how they were often expanded because of the influence of bankers in their quest for profits. The Fed's three predecessors are also examined at length. I didn't know about all of the monetarily created booms and busts in our history, but they are numerous. The Great Depression is only the best known. The author convincingly argues for the elimination of the Fed (I haven't gotten to his recommended courses of action yet), and I can't wait to read what he says about Greenspan. In short, if everyone in the country read this book, we would be much better off. ork
