Doesn't offend me. Just sounds like this:

Hey, I'm all in favor of what Gulo wants to change the meaning of "liberal" back to. The only problem is, what do we do with all these politically correct meatheads who now think they are liberals? Shoot 'em? Ship 'em to Canada? What?

it was confederated in response to threat from the south during the 1860s
Ah, that doesn't seem to square with what I've read of Canadian history. It sounded much more like Canadians had a patch of trouble with the Brits too. And wanted them out. And the Brits decided they didn't want another war over here. Particularly considering that the US, having just finished the Civil War, was armed to the teeth, had lots of experienced soldiers, and probably would have been glad to help out.

Calling the RCAF personnel at NORAD 'troops' is a bit of a stretch, they're officers and technicians co-operating in mutual defense of the continent ... there are US personnel stationed up north here as well, have been for many years ... that's a separate question, only distantly related imho to the current issue, as none of them are likely to point a weapon at the locals while on foreign soil
OK. Nevertheless, there are Canadian military personnel inside that mountian. And if shooting starts, there are likely to be US jets flying in Canadian airspace. Alongside Canadian jets.
To the mutual benefit of both nations. You gain a great deal from everyone knowing that if they take on Canada, they take on the US.

And we benefit. In big ways and small ways. It is still remembered that Canadians hid US Embassy personnel inside the Canadian Embassy in Iran. And brought them out, at the cost of shutting down that Embassy.

nor which doofus du jour will see us as a Nicaragua in which to play with his war toys
You're losing it, boy.

Canada must defend herself
Canada can't defend herself. Not really. 30 million people sitting on the 2nd largest national territory on earth. Won't work. You'd be speaking Russian now if it weren't for the US. Or, worse, you'd be a glowing slag heap.

The spitting started years ago, from a bunch currently represented by that Ragosta individual and in control of your federal Commerzwaffei
More leftwing jabberwocky.
