Oh, I understand the principle all right. I'm just not sure how applicable the principle is. It's similar to those who insist, on good and valid principle, that US citizens need to hoard arms against the potential that our government turns against us. Yeah, it could happen. And the US could invade Canada, as well. The questions are 1) what is the probability and 2) how much do you want to invest/risk to protect against it.
It's entirely possible that our countries will merge to some extent at some point in time. But it won't be at the point of a gun.
Regarding doofuses, or dppfi, or whatever, yeah, we have our share. I'm scared of them, too. But, again, how much do we put into doofus-phobia and doofus inoculations?
