>>US wants Iran to keep mum in case of attack on Iraq
F.P. Report

Islamabad: Iran and USA have reached tacit understanding that Iran will keep a low profile in case USA attacks Iraq.

A source having access to the administration in Kabul said that Afghanistan capital, Kabul, has connections in the ruling Junta, added that covert aim of the Iranian President’s recent visit to Kabul was to use Karzai’s administration, as intermediary for softening the hard US stance towards Iran.

The US administration is understood to have put some conditions.

In wake of the declaration of “Iran, Iraq and North Korea” by the US administration as “axis of evils” and the current US threats to the Iranian clergy, the Iranian leadership has been trying hard to bring normalcy in relations with the US administration.

Reports gathered from Kabul said that the understanding reached between the US and the Iranian President, through Afghan President, Iran will not provide shelter to dissident Taliban or Al Qaeda members and will not oppose deployment of US forces in Kurdistan - Iraq and instigate the people of Kurdistan against the US forces.

In case of overthrow of present Iraqi leadership, the Iranian authorities will not provide shelter to Saddam Hussain or his associates, sources added.

Meanwhile, diplomatic sources said that Iran will continue to take a position that it is against any attack on Iraq but has agreed with USA that it will not create any practical hurdles for USA.

Diplomatic sources said that Iran feared that at this stage falling on the wrong side of USA was dangerous as US was willing to use military force wherever it deems necessary.<<
