' It's entirely possible that our countries will merge to some extent at some point in time.'
Oh, Karen, you really know how to push the buttons, don't you .... this is The Big One, as you must know, but it is completely unthinkable - the US has far too much road left to go in their development process to become mature enough, civilised enough, to join our Confederation .... we do appreciate that many among you envy and aspire to such an association, but i am afraid it is possible only in the individual case, through our immigration department ... many have come before you, the path is well-trod, do not fear, just as long as you can make it over the border before you get shot by one of those 'citizens' with a 'need to hoard arms' .... you'll be safe here, they're not welcome, neither are those with a need to arm hordes
Leonard Cohen said it well perhaps - 'i love the country, but i can't stand the scene' .... meantime rest assured that we're preserving the best of the wondrous Uncle Sam myth for you, here in the g.w.n.
'the US could invade Canada'
We've a name for perpetrators of such activity - 'Targets' ... we also know the majority of you to be too intelligent to consider such a heinous act, so it's not like we lie awake at night worrying about it .... just the possibility of US troops operating on our soil got our kilts up, that's all, it'll pass once we've piped 'em off the island for the umpteenth time
Papaya - a few weeks ago a guy i was working with invited me for dinner, his son and daughter had done some pork in thin strips, sauteed with the candied papaya you get in health food stores, marinated before cooking in it i think, with some spice, maybe nutmeg, not sure, didn't ask ... sort of sweet and sour, with lime not vinegar .... anyway it was great, and i'm not one to approve of any hint of sweetness in food or drink, but in this case it was all right, not bad for two teenagers experimenting ... the mango is still my fruit though |
