CPI AEROSTRUCTURES ANNOUNCES CONTRACT AWARD STATUS

Edgewood, N.Y. (September 4, 2002) - CPI Aerostructures, Inc. (AMEX Symbol: CVU) announced today that the total contracts awarded for the year through August 31, 2002 are approximately $15.5 million in value. This total exceeds last year's awards for the same period by nearly ten percent. Included in the most recent awards is a $720,000 purchase order for follow-on engine mounts for the Lear 60 and Astra Galaxy executive business jets.

"We are extremely pleased with the awards CPI has received to date," stated CPI's President, Edward J. Fred. "If the current trend continues, as we expect, 2002 will mark the sixth consecutive year in which CPI has experienced double-digit growth in contract awards. We believe this shows that CPI is an extremely reliable supplier of high quality products. This is significant since, with the existing turmoil in the world, the United States Government will be looking for reliable suppliers as it requires spare parts for its fleet of aircraft," concluded Mr. Fred.
