Our pollution devastates the earth, e.g., the recent floods in Central Europe.

I know there is a strong temptation to say this but government reports from Austria, the Czech Republic, and Germany all agree that the problem lies in bad land management practices upriver.

If the river had been allowed to expand into its natural flood plains, the surge would have worked its way downriver over a period of weeks -- even months.

Instead, the river, walled in on every side, produced 80 (!!!) times normal flows as estimated in Prague.

It will be most interesting to watch how future commentary presents the story of this disaster.
