I will be interested in Cosmic's response to your contention that Atheism increases the motivation to act out of a desire for glory, and therefore by implication increases the likelihood of wars, since he was earlier positing that the elimination of religious tendencies among mankind would lead to peace.

Basically, I do agree with you, though I wouldn't press the atheism argument to the extent that you do.

But, yes, the "for God and Country" could easily be "for God or Country," so that if there is no God, Country will do just as well.
