Unless the part contains the whole, at least in the sense of having an analogical grasp of part- to- wholeness, one cannot understand the whole at all. One can only know that there is a whole. If one has an analogical grasp, there is still no way of verifying the aptness of the analogy, so it is merely a poetic elaboration of what one thinks the relationship of part- to- whole might be......
