The Middle East Studies Association of North America (MESA) has decided to celebrate the first anniversary of September 11th by giving an award to ... wait for it ... Edward Said. Not unnaturally, this has sent Martin Kramer into a fit, and he has an extended riff in a new article Mesa Culpa meforum.org Kramer points out that the government has just founded a program to pay for language-training centers on campus, called NLFI.
