Well, Dave, Saddam certainly has not been a model citizen, but he is no dope and he has palaces and famly all over Iraq that he wants to be prosperous. He also wants Iraq to survive and prosper. After Desert Storm, which taught him a great lesson and Bush's father blew by not completing the job, we the US put Saddam in a box. We put on sanctions and we patrol his air space 2/3 of his country. The sanctions really hurt. When he threw out the inspectors he was desperate, and they left with any evidence he had anything. My good friend a nuclear arms expert says that these things are not the easiest to master or hide.
So now we can make a deal with him and he would take it. Killing 500,000 people is just plain stupid and will suck all our money and create more American hate around the world which there is plenty of. It will also likely drive the global recession into a global depression.
When in 1962 Kennedy risked nuclear war he showed photos of missile installations in Cuba to UN and the US people. The only evidence we have against Saddam is the bullship be spewed by Rice and Cheney, even Colin Powell knows it's crap. Bob Dole, Eagleburger, Schwartzkopf, Powell, Lott, McCain, John Warner and other prominent Republicans have challenged this rush to stupidity........... |
