I think this is where America has its PR problem.

The people in some of these countries hate their leaders and couldn't give a damn about Allah. But they are classed as "enemies" and counted in your billion strong figure. Thus you can justify "a LOT of them are going to die".

Fear of death will only stop the non fanatics. They are the ones who don't need stopping.

Going after Al qaida is good, going after saddam is good but going after a few hundred thousand civilians just makes USA more unpopular and is self defeating eventually. Innocent people dying at the hands of the US turns ordinary people in to anti American fanatics. It is an own goal.

Unless you think the military might of US can really take on all muslims in the world and the Sikhs will one day remove their turbans?
