on you opinion of the effects to US economy and psyche were the Islamic fundamentalists to be successful in setting off a dirty bomb at the corner of Wall and Broad. The radioactive material used and stored in the local cancer treatment center combined with similar contents of a few more similar institutions would be spread/imbedded into the stone walls of buildings in the area and would pose a removal problem of considerable
magnitude. The frayed nerves of the investing public would be far worse, further emphasizing this government's impotence to fight terrorists in our streets. The FBI does not have a sterling record after the bungling of the last few years ( Reno with Ruby Ridge and Waco, Freeh's bungling of the traitors in the agency's midst, the botched missed signals prior to 9/11...the list goes on). The public would panic and stocks would dive and real estate
in business districts of major cities across the nation would plummet. I think you overestimate US tolerance for uncertainty and danger. And we have become soft. Be happy in your opinions, as of course you know they are yours and by our rules here you have every right to them. Mine however says yours are misguided and poorly formed with respect to my countrymen. We are not as tough as you or we think. And we have weak leadership.
Whatever happened to the shrub's question/threat, "with us or against us"...what happened to the appearance of a unified administration, firm in its resolve for justice (read vengeance) after 9/11. He has a VP and too many friends with huge financial interests in our "ally countries" to act really "mean." We now have a torn Afghanistan that slips inevitably back into pre-9/11 warlord status, we have another assassination attempt today, we continue to do business with the corrupt House of Saud pretending they are our friends, and the shrub now acts like he is going to go it alone against Iraq, consequences be damned.
