BTW, I don't disagree that the USSR was an imperialist.

Eastern Europe wasn't being buffered. Eastern Europe WAS the buffer!
I understood the situation full well. That was intended as a sarcastic way of putting.
And whenever any part of the "buffer" revolted, Soviet tanks rolled. Right over any part of the "buffer" that got in the way.
