Re: Please don't do that Gus, lets not mess with the reported news, it is manipulated enough already.
Indeed, that's why I think some sort of countermanipulation is required.... Besides, it's a kind of literary exercise that nicely fits in with our so-called "freedom of speech".
As regards Prez Karzai, well, I guess it's a warning to the US that it won't be able to get it both ways --or, rather, three ways: cracking down in Afghanistan, giving Sharon a greenlight to stall the Mideast process AND bombing Iraq...
I think every Arab leader (from Mubarak to Musharraf to the Saudis) understands the diplomatic quandary of the US: the US can't take on Russia head-on because that would mean WWIII. However, what's really ominous in the current turn of events is the bamboozling of public opinion --especially in the US and Europe. The Arab world and Islam have successfully been demonized because of an outrageous terrorist attack (911) THEY'VE GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH!! Up to a certain point, Arab regimes are willing to play the proxies (and the patsies) in the tug-of-war between the US and Russia BUT they won't allow for innocent Arab civilians --including Iraqis-- to pay for the Russians! I think Prez Bush and his trigger-happy hawks had better understand that. 911 was planned and executed by Russia and contracted out to some Tajik/Arab hirelings so, if the US wasn't happy with 911, if the US wants redress, if the US needs some revenge or whatever, that's fine with everybody... so long as the US runs after the REAL CULPRITS. Of course, it's much easier for the US to bomb Iraq than to isolate Russia. Likewise, it's gonna be much easier for Iran to retaliate with terrorism than to send a gunboat off the coast of Florida.
