You didn't ask me, but here's my opinion anyway (FWIW).

NVDA, at this stage is a "potential" company. They have the technology leadership today. However this technology changes every 6-9 months.

There is nothing in NVDA's portfolio that can sustain them for anything more than 9 -12 months if they screw up big time on their next generation product. Unfortunately this is true every year for NVDA (or any graphics company).

Maybe, in 5 - 10 years it may become apparent that NVDA laid the groundwork to "lock in" some base (like INTC or MSFT), however, NVDA lives by the sword (the cutting edge in tech) and may die by the sword (unable to keep up or missing a generation like TDFX did).

At this stage, I would not keep NVDA in my buy and forget portfolio. I would keep checking their story every 6 months to make sure they are still tracking and building a viable long term base that may one day make them a "buy and forget" story (are there any such stories still out there!?).

The next check point is the NV30 graphics chip, how it performs vs the ATI Radeon 9700 and if they can ship it on the already delayed schedule (to be available for late fall).
