'81 was a shock to everyone, which was what made it so great.

We've been fortunate enough to have season tickets since the mid-'70s (some tough years at first) and got to watch the entire Montana/Lott/Craig/Young/Rice era up close. What a treat.

Cactus Jack Curtis? I hadn't heard of him (though before my time anyway).

My first Niner game in person saw Brodie (who had been hurt and missed several games) relieve Steve Spurrier and throw two 4th quarter TDs against Minnesota to send the Niners to the playoffs in 1972. Then Preston Riley came along and hurt us all.
