Murrey, I love those animal stories. We've never turned away a stray. Never. I never will forget years ago when I was out bush hogging. I found a puppy in the field. Middle of summer, burning hot. Almost dead. Obviously, somebody had dropped him off the way they do out in the country sometimes. I remember looking down at that little thing and he could hardly raise his head. But, I could see in his eyes he was about to die, and folks may call me an ole softie, but I could just hear that little feller saying "help me." I really could. We saved him. Turned out to be a fierce defender of the homestead. Stood at our boys sides anytime someone was around he didn't know. He knew what to do. It was almost like he never forgot. He's buried out front now. He has a headstone, too, with his name on it. RR
