Nadine, There is no set yield on a closed end equity fund. What the papers call yield is just last year's payout of capital gains and it has nothing to do with risk at all. It has to do with how many shares the managers sold and whether or not they are raising cash. Since the NAV declines by the amount of the payout, it is net net nothing to a tax deferred account and a bummer for a taxable account. MB
