75% to 80% of what is communicated is ...non-verbal.
Yes, so true. We were given five senses (so far as we now understand it): sight, sound, smell, touch, taste. On SI, we experience aliases without the benefit of any of these senses. Sight is employed to read words scrolling across our screens, but we lack any visual perception of the alias (who could as well be an alien).
The alias to us is represented not even by the handwriting, but by printed characters. You, X, for example could easily be a computer, even one pre-programed and operating without human command. (I just thought of this ... you aren't, are you??)
Can these printed characters I am looking at commit crimes? Can a word jump off this page and stalk me? Can I be harrassed and frightened by the very sight of this: msndfgshdifdjfye7y ??
I do have much trouble understanding how this can be. |
