You still haven't supplied two things:

1) what the US should have done to stop the Indonesian invasion, and

2) what possible motive the US would have for wanting Indonesia to invade tiny East Timor and slaughter its people.

Your biased presentation of factoids is intended to portray the US as instigating the Indonesian invasion and the atrocities that followed. You want your readers to conclude the US is a wicked power who desires the deaths of poor innocents.

Remember the population ratios (200 million vs 0.7 million) that are also facts. Remember also that E Timor is part of the Indonesian archipelago surrounded by Indonesia territory on three sides. Indonesia hardly needed any great assistance in taking East Timor. Indeed a good deal of effort would have had to been expended in preventing Indonesia from marching across the border and occupying it.
