Oh, I forgot to mention the full reason the left makes a fuss over Indonesia's treatment of East Timor. Part of the reason is to dirty the US image by claiming we wanted the Indonesian invasion and atrocities to happen. To America-bashers like yourself and Noam, America is responsible for every bad thing that happens. If America intervenes somewhere, we're responsible for everything that happens even after the intervention is ended. But if we don't intervene, we are still responsible for "giving the green light" to others. Second, the left needed - and still needs - to divert attention from the much larger bloodbath which was occurring simultaneously in Indochina after America withdrew from the region. Wouldn't want Communist regimes to get a bad image, now would you.
