EIA STEO for September has me a bit disappointed in the EIA. Are they going to be the last one to recognize the production decline in 2002 will be closer to 5% than the 1.7% they are still predicting?

Plus a boom in production will place 2003 levels above 2001 levels. It seems they must expect some mighty prolific wells are just waiting to be poked here in the 4th quarter.

When I listen to EOG's webcast and then read the EIA data, I wonder how views could be so opposite one another.

EOG says NG production down 5% in 2002 and down 2-3% in 2003, EIA down 1.7% in 2002 and up 3.2% in 2003.

Got drillers? Its time to hunker down and ride the RIG increase wave. I just hope the general market does not hose this cycle with poor equity valuations.
