Re: Are there objective, reliable test sites which compare dual systems
Sure, both Anandtech and AcesHardware have done dual processor tests.
You should read Anandtech's test results, but the most telling conclusion was that they wound up spending their own funds to replace their existing servers with AMD Dual processor servers.
Here is some TPS (transactions per second) data collected using ZD Serverbench on a number of single and dual processor configurations:ZD Serverbench 4.1 (TPS) 1-process 4-processes 8-processes 12-processes 1x Pentium III 733 MHz 53,250 52,133 52,189 52,323 Dual Pentium III 733 MHz 50,920 87,815 89,264 87,811 1x Athlon MP 2000+ 121,367 120,722 121,134 121,349 Dual Athlon MP 2000+ 118,453 224,108 213,489 231,333 Pentium 4 256k 1.6 GHz 70,763 71,521 71,303 71,569 Pentium 4 256k 2 GHz 80,902 81,739 81,439 81,748 Pentium 4 512k 2 GHz 127,629 125,458 127,241 126,994 Pentium 4 512k 2.4 GHz 150,709 151,488 151,285 151,919 http://www.aceshardware.com/read.jsp?id=45000334 |
