If I had a point, it was that we KNOW that an alias and the registered user may bear absolutely no characteristics or attributes in common. KNOWING that ... when we see typewritten words under an alias, we must accept that we have no way of KNOWING whether those words tell us anything whatsoever about the nature of the "substantial person" behind the alias. Ergo, our premise here should be that we are in a dialogue with the alias, and only the alias, and that we KNOW nothing about the "real person" or "substantial person" underlying that alias.

That is logic. If you choose to replace logic with a leap of faith, you have every right to do so.
