Sorry about that, should have been million ounces (not metric tonnes) of reserves.
Corrected: "I currently have 700moz of reserves and 1000moz of resources being currently being reported"
Should make more sense, since 700moz at an annual production rate of 80moz would be almost 9 years of minelife.

Both Agnico Eagle and Goldcorp proved to the marketplace one can still mine high grades veins,
and the whole world doe not have to become a open-pit heap-leach operation.

I am always optimistic about gold mining and expect it will not just all disappear in the next 20 years from depletion. This is why I have said (hope for ?) a run over $500 later in the decade (2007) which should be enough to get folks revisiting projects you mentioned and doing more greenfield work. I note new projects in Thailand, Romania, Cambodia and expect folks to look everywhere for gold. More technology should be helpful, like SX-EW from copper mining , bioleaching, a few methods not developed yet, and maybe revisiting some old methods.
