OT - Short Selling

There appears to be a significant number of folks out there who believe that short selling is pretty much un-American. I suspect part of this is due to the unethical few who have given legitimate dark side traders a bad name by employing variations of pump-and-dump schemes and issuing false information. I think it's important to note that short selling can have a positive impact on the market by providing liquidity and infusing a degree of balance when a security becomes overpriced. The bottom line is that short selling is a legal practice used by ethical investors everywhere both to hedge and to speculate.

Richard, IMO you shouldn't feel the need to explain that you "don't wish AMAT any harm" because you have shorted the stock. Good luck with your trade.

(BTW, This post was not directed at anyone imparticular, and certainly was not directed at Sarmad who clearly wished Richard good luck with his trade, even though he did not agree with it.)
