Morphosys / British Biotech OXFORD, U.K.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2002--The Board of British Biotech plc has noted recent press speculation and confirms that it is in preliminary merger discussions with MorphoSys AG, a German company listed on the Neuer Markt, which may or may not lead to a definitive agreement. A further announcement will be made when appropriate. In the meantime, the Board advises shareholders to take no action. Makes considerable sense. Britsh Biotech has cash, Morphosys has a reasonably credible platform (and failed to tap the markets at the right time).
