| Actually, although you know me less well than, say, my wife or my more intimate friends, you know me better than most of my acquaintances. The division between 3D and cyberspace is much too artificial, unless you have reason to believe I have been particularly deceptive. Sure, acquaintances know my face and voice, and see me interacting in various situations, but I do not as a matter of course discuss my views or feelings about many of the things most important to me with people I know casually. Since my personality is pretty revealed in the course of things, as well, at least in respect of some signature traits, and since the ideas that I discuss are, for the most part, essential to the way I view and interact with the world, I do not think that one can shrug off the communications as "idea clusters". The people here have a lot of good data about me, it mainly depends on how well they put it together......... |
