I think that sums up my sentiment pretty nicely. I also agree with your assessment that BB's actions in 2000 point more to a belief that the bear would be short lived. Heck he couldn't even bring himself to use the word "bear" until late in 2000. In addition, it wasn't until later in 2001 that the concept of a secular bear surfaced in his vocabulary.

Furthermore, his reticence about discussing current market trends is indicative of fear and uncertainty. He knows he was wrong about the bear initially and his own confidence has been shattered.

All clues point to a lack of foresight and visibility. He is definitely wandering around in the dark with no evidence in the last 2 years that he knows what to do.
