| You might be right if it were just the two of us, but,in fact, there are generally several interlocutors at a given time, arguing, chatting, and ruminating in public. Not only that, we spend longer here than with most acquaintances, hour in a day and days in a week. I have not had so much intensive interaction with people outside the family since college. In any event, I distinguished between closer friends, whom one might spend a whole day with, and casual acquaintances, with whom one rarely speaks deeply or at length....... |
