Yes.

That's comparing a cross-over in practice to cross-over in theory.

It's always much easier for a rapid theoretical cross-over than an actual one.

It took Intel ~10 months to 'cross-over' between the PIII and the PIV, and they only accomplished it then by renaming the PIII to Celeron in the lower ranges( October 1, 2001, IIRC. ).

I'd be surprised, and happily pleased, if AMD could cross-over faster. Especially if they don't have to redefine anything!
