This most recent issue of The New York Review of Books has several articles which look to be of interest to some of us on this thread. I'm going to be on the road a bit this week--the Maine trip--so I won't be posting them. I recommend anyone interested might check out the issue on the web at. nybooks.com

It includes the following:

1. Tim Judah, Among the Iraqi Kurds. Judah is a well respected independent journalist.

2. Thomas Powers, Secret Intelligence and September 11. Powers has written a great deal of interesting material on the CIA.

3. Andrew Nathan and Bruce Gilley, China's New Rulers: What Secret Files Reveal. Nathan has a chair in political science at Columbia; Gilley is doing doctoral work at Princeton. Tek may know them. If Tek ever comes back to the thread.

I get the feeling that the NYRB is becoming as much foreign policy wonkish as literature and history wonkish. Strange world.
