Some interesting comments from Nextel at the Morgan Stanley Communications Conference....does anybody have a list of all of the presenting companies?

There is more information but the notes were off the top of my head.

corporate-ir.net

- The packet data network is averaging somewhere between 15-20Kbps.

- The customers that have a data pricing plan are averaging $98 ARPU. They have a churn less than 1%. I would love to hear what these statistics are for Verizon and PCS.

- A question was asked about PCS and Direct Connect....the response was that DC is difficult to do well over CDMA(their standard response). In particular, Qualcomm and Motorola are still working on getting the call set-up below 1 second. They dont anticipate a solution until '04.

- They absolutely blasted AT&T and their new GSM pricing plans. Something along the lines of.....that's what you need to do when you build an expensive network that is sitting empty with services that suck. <g>

- They cant keep the i95c ($399 handset with color screen in stock). Demand has been huge....and this is on a handset that they actually make money selling.
