G,
Understood and Sorry. Am having a rough time with the "boys" today. Just walked backed from Ground Zero. Last year it was charged that i was too close to the tragedy to be rational or objective. And you folks were probably right.
After seeing your post and after returning from the VOID in my life and soul(Ground zero) i respectively submit that you folks are too far removed to either be rational or objective. You California folks(collectively) dont get the enormity of the tragedy and the attack.
Gottfried, Do you really think the US justice dept is the equivalent of or moving in the direction of the Stasi. We are at war. I have many Muslim frinds at work who tell me how amazed they are about how fair US folks are, both government and civilians. NY police walk on eggs not to offend as do I. Yes there is risk for freedoms here, just as there is in every war the US has fought. The proof is in the pudding. We always value freedom in the end. It always wins out. But vigilence in defending freedom and freedoms is not an excuse for the vile treatment of the President that some on the board engage in.
You mention the East German secret police. I think of an earlier time and Hitler and how many of my extended family would be alive today if the world or at least one country in the world had acted against him early on. Cary says FDR didnt want to offend non-jews in the USA so his silence was understandable. Thre are always excuses for inaction. I am sure Chamberlain thought he was right too.
We have just had our Rosh Hashana holiday this past weekend and like every year it amazes me how small in numbers my family is because of the Holocaust. Thats why i give Bush the benefit of the doubt. Mike
PS I am sorry for the disjointed post. Had some things to get off my chest.
