It's time to start tasting the HIFN waters again.
HIFN is probably at least a quarter away from turning it's rev around. Some nice indications anyway. Click on the draw down window and select stock consultant.

Hifn Announces Security Processors for Lucent Technologies' High Performance, Low Cost VPN Firewall Bricks(TM)
Carrier-Grade Integrated Firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and QoS Appliances Use Hifn's Security Platform and Multiple Hifn Processors
Tuesday September 10, 1:00 pm ET

LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Concurrent with the Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - News) introduction today of the high performance, low cost VPN Firewall Brick(TM) 300, 500 and new encryption accelerator card (EAC), network security and flow classification market leader Hifn(TM) (Nasdaq: HIFN - News) revealed that security acceleration is provided by Hifn's security platform (HSP) and multiple Hifn security processors.

The two new Lucent products are designed for secure web/application hosting services, large scale managed security services and remote access VPN services. The VPN Firewall Brick 500 is a high-performance, compact (1RU) and cost effective gigabit-rate integrated firewall/VPN/QoS gateway, delivering IPSec 3DES performance of 450 Mbps with the new Encryption Accelerator Card (EAC).

"Lucent's new VPN Firewall Bricks provide a clear indication of what the future holds for the VPN arena -- higher bandwidth handling capabilities, ease of management, redundancy, greater performance and lower cost," says Doug Makishima, Hifn vice president of marketing. "It is very satisfying to see our security solutions incorporated in products that are the best of their kind in so many ways."

The Lucent VPN Firewall Bricks interoperate seamlessly with the Lucent Security Management Server (LSMS), which streamlines centralized remote management of distributed IP networks and also provides ease of operation with Lucent IPSec Client software, for telecommuter and mobile remote access VPNs. Large-scale IP services can be centrally provisioned and managed by either the enterprise or the service provider. The VPN Firewall Brick 300 and 500 are new additions to the award-winning Lucent VPN Firewall portfolio with platforms that support up to 3,000,000 simultaneous connections, 1,000 VLANs with security policy filtering, and high availability with state sharing for synchronizing session information within a paired firewall.

"We chose to go with Hifn because they offer a complete package, with security solutions that include both security processors and software," said Camille Milfort, director of Lucent's Security Solutions, "and can be scaled to meet growing demands. Acceleration is performed by the EAC in all the key areas -- compression, encryption, authentication, private and public key."

The Hifn Intelligent Packet Processing (HIPP) security processors used in the new Lucent products deliver up to 500 Mbps and 700 Mbps performance for 3DES encryption and LZS® compression, respectively. Unlike other security processors, HIPP processors are protocol aware and therefore recognize and operate on packets based on diverse protocols, such as IPSec, SSL, TLS, PPP and PPTP, in real-time and at wire speed.
