9/11 was the Pearl Harbor, for us, of the worldwide Islamic jihad, a very dispersed, intractable, fanatical, well funded conspiratorial group with thousands of members and potentially millions of supporters, and receiving the clandestine support of a number of states.

And it is believed that Al Qaeda has a presence within the US among the resident Muslim population. There was no equivalent situation after Dec 7, 1941: the Japanese represented a tiny, highly concentrated, and overwhelmingly loyal population of American citizens. |
