Everyone always uses propaganda to their own advantage. When I look over the collections of propaganda we produced during WWII I always shudder. Is it necessary to whip people up into unthinking hating machines in order to win a war? Maybe it is. Problem is, it is always hard to tell whether a war is just at the time the drums are beating- and frequently even after the war people disagree.

The problem (imo) are the people in a free country, on ANY side of an issue, who think the people with whom they disagree are "traitors" simply for thinking differently. That kind of thinking is incompatible with a free country. And that is fine, if those people do not want a free country. I assume Bush is thinking of what is best for the country. I disagree with him on most things. But I am willing to believe he is trying to do what he perceives is best. It is always possible he isn't, but without evidence to the contrary I would like to assume he wants to be a good leader and do the "right" thing. (Even though i may disagree with his notions of right and wrong)
