That's a fascinating survey, and it shows some interesting things.

In particular: "The vast majority of investors remain committed to a buy-and-hold philosophy. Only 12 percent believe in trying to time the market by buying and selling in reaction to market swings."

Since roughly 5.5% of investors made money during the past two years, I surmise that those people are the half of the 12% who were consistently on the right side of the market! The other half (who were consistently on the wrong side) probably couldn't be contacted for the survey (no phone.)
