IC - prior to Sept 11 the United States was the largest donor of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. Where were the Arab states in their support of their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters? That one fact alone tells the story of the difference between the Arab world and the Western states. The problems in the Arab world are not caused by the West. They are borne from centuries of feudalism and despotic leaders, of intolerance, injustice, and a desire to maintain the status quo with a tiny elite controlling the masses. When there are problems, then blame Israel or the West. This is drummed into school children throughout their school years. Take a look at just about any Arab text book that is used in the schools. If that is the only view that they are taught in school, then it's no wonder that they turn out the way that they do. To my mind, this is a huge betrayel of their own children - and the next generation - as they are being denied any opportunity to form for themselves a balanced view of the world about them. The Arab world has to look honestly at itself for the source of its own problems. David.
