John, ...sort of OT......food for thought

Have you investigated Gas-To-Liquids technology?

There is a little company called Rentech, in Colorado, that I have been following for some time on the Ragingbull message board (this RB board has some pretty good research on GTL). They have a technology for converting natural gas and other hydrocarbon bearing materials, such as coal and industrial gases, into a clean burning sulfer-free diesel fuel and other products such as waxes. They have a lot of MOUs and other agreements but I do not know if they will ever actually get a project started. There are several other GTL companies (such as Sasol along with the big petroleum companies) which also seem to have their own GTL technologies.

It appears that the petroleum industry is ramping up for some huge investments in GTL plants all over the world (multi-billions in 5 to 10 years). With this technology they will be able to blend it with other typical diesel fuels (or maybe use it alone at some point) to reduce the sulfer content and to help create tolerable emission levels.

Perhaps this GTL technology will be part of the short-term solution until/if we can convert to some other long-term energy solution.

I can't help but wonder how Orbital's technology will fit
in with the use of these GTL fuels.

Dennis
